Her Mother Serena passed away when she was only seven years old and was raised by step-parents. She was raised in Mobridge, South Dakota until the age of fourteen and left for boarding school in Flandreau, South Dakota and later obtained her G.E.D. Ruby has made her home in North Dakota and is pursuing her dreams and goals. She has plans to further her education.

Although Ruby has had no formal art training and was raised off the reservation all of her life, she began to express her talant at an early age. She has been blessed with the ability to create many styles of Native American art such as her hand painted Buffalo Skulls, Turtleshell Dreamcatchers, Mandellas, Bone Chokers, Porcupine Quill Earrings, Quill Choker's, Beaded Pens, Key Chain's,Lighter Cases, Hand Sewn Inca Boots, Knee-hi Lace-up Mocassins, and Children's Moccassin's, Newborn Moccassin's. Her latest achievements have been her Ceremonial Prayer Fans and Smudge Fans.

Ruby's work is based on American Indian design's but is not traditional. Instead, she interpret's traditional designs using materials she finds or is given. By adapting designs, her work is actually culturally consistant because American Indian's have historically incorporated new materials.
